Quality molds start with a careful plan. In house mold design allows close control and shortens the time it takes to complete the build. After the requirements are specified, a combination of 2D, 3D Wire-frame, Surface and Solid Modeling technologies are used to completely and accurately define the mold before construction begins. Complex surfaces for cavities, shutoffs and electrodes are programmed using "Delcam" and "Surfcam" software. These Programs are converted to cutter path code. The code drives the Vertical Machining Centers to accurately carve these shapes.

Our twin Tree 1060 Vertical Machining Centers allow excellent precision milling capabilities and enhances scheduling. These machines cut mold bases, cores, cavities, and electrodes unattended after setup and testing. The mills each have a part capacity of 50 x 23.8 x 28.5 and table travels of 40 x 24 x 25

The graphite cutting work cell consists of an Okada GM544 30,000 RPM high speed machining center with a 32 position tool changer. The electrodes are auto loaded using a 220 station System 3R Workman for around the clock unmanned machining.  In addition to the reduction in time this equipment gives us a superior finish and great accuracy.

Swiss accuracy comes in the form of Charmilles Electrical Discharge Machines (E.D.M.). Difficult shapes are electrically eroded into any conductive material. Mold building makes demanding use of this creative technology. Part size is L-39.4 x W-27.5 x H-14.5 with cutting travels of X-19.85 x Y-15.85 x Z-17.25

Intricate inserts and through openings are cut on this Charmilles Robofil 440 SLP Wire E.D.M. machine. This machine provides craftsmen with additional ways of creating the shapes needed for today's products. Our automatic wire threading Electrical Discharge Machine has a part capacity of 47.24 X 27.56 X 15.75 inches and table travels of 35.43 x 23.62 inches.

ED BORE or "Hole Popping" electrically drills holes through hardened steel. This valuable machine supports our wire EDM. By having it in house we can create start holes with no downtime spent waiting to go to and from an outsource.
